They are really in the same batch. Starting in Jan as a new grad is just a conversation with HR that you are graduating early and want to start early. There is no official Jan class that is specifically recruited for. Typically "as-needed backfills" to replace leavers are for people with experience, not new grads.

That said, you should network over the late spring and summer, and FT recruiting will start around the first and second week of August. A lot of the time there are not any open apps (or they don't review them) because FT recruiting moves very quickly, often in a matter of weeks, and they are only filling a handful of spots so they already have first rounds filled from the people who have reached out.
