Relocation / Sign-on Clawback
I recently received a job offer at a start-up in a space I am really passionate about, but it necessitates an immediate start. My original IB offer letter noted that if I were to resign before the 2nd anniversary of my start date, I would be required to pay back my relocation and sign-on, I was wondering if it would be prorated to the months left from my second anniversary or if it would all be clawed back. Given that i am just 1.5 months away from having hit 2 years, it would be painful to repay the entirety of my sign-on bonus. Anyone know if I can push for the pro-rating since offer letter just said I would have to repay it but it didn't say in full?
Thanks in advance!
How big was your sign on bonus that it'd be so painful to repay?
Regardless, you don't really need to pay it back. HR might send you a strongly worded letter but they're not going to chase it down if you ignore them.
Feel like I’ve heard of people getting sent to collections on here. Any armchair lawyers willing to speculate on this?
In same boat as OP and would like to give my bank the stiff arm if at all possible.
