I'm an incoming FT analyst there so here's my $0.02. If you are passionate about O&G, it's a wonderful place to work. It's one of the top shops in Houston, imo, and they get some pretty great mandates, which have expanded since PWP bought them out (since now we can do more restructuring work). The people I met there were really great folks and I look forward to working with them, so I consider myself very lucky. However, if you don't care about O&G or Houston (which is entirely valid, it's not for everyone necessarily), it's not the place for you, since that's the only thing they do, and energy is a field with fewer transferrable skills than, say, industrials or TMT.

Take what I say with a grain of salt, since I haven't actually started my FT work there, but that's my take.

Yeah, I'd say that's fairly true. At least when compared to the rest of the Houston IB scene the culture is more relaxed and cooperative. Associates and VPs know when you're about to get burnt out and are more appreciative.
