Roomate at UBS can’t afford maid

Hi all, have a roommate that works at UBS (2 AN) and he can’t afford our biweekly maid service. Currently a 2 AN at an elite bulge bracket bank (RBC / Barc/ Santander) and am living way above my means with mid bucket bonus. Does UBS really pay this bad? Anyone else run into problems of having roomates at not EBBs? - definitely a weird dynamic when it comes to splitting things. Thanks!

Had a similar problem, An2 at Tobin&Co. Roommate was a CVP MD, couldn't afford groceries and I had to buy for the both of us most of the time. Consider expensing this as a tax write off by claiming your roommate as a dependent

Interesting… haven’t thought about this good thinking 2 AN at Tobin&Co. Totally different topic but found out if you have a vehicle over 6k pounds can write off entire car as business expense in CA. Thought this knowledge may be helpful for someone out there. Thanks!

I'm assuming your roommate is non-WASP, non-intergenerational-wealth, non-6'5, and non-ex-UVA-lax-player. Honestly, I think it's on you for not promoting a more rigorous roommate selection process

Hello,

I know how hard it can be.

I am an AN4 at a elite bulge bracket boutique (Deutsche Bank / MUFG / BNP Paribas) but my roommate is at a more traditional bloated balance sheet bank (Goldman / Morgan Stanley / JPM) and this creates a power and wealth imbalance where he is constantly trailing me.

Please let me know of any helpful guidance you receive or solutions you realize, as this is getting very frustrating.

I have a similar issue… 2nd Year Analyst at UBS doesn’t want to live with me anymore (I’m guessing comp is really getting heinous over there since we live in a nice area — Think East Harlem/Brownsville). Anyways, I’m gonna really miss tickling him in the middle of the night.

Dont worry fellow chads! UBS has made significant progress in the last month in making UBS great again.

We have laid off many legacy CS DEI hires in FIG, GIG and M&A, and have seen mass CS resignations in Tech. By year end the scourge of nerd hardo DEI CS secondees will be largely vanquished, leaving us to once again shine in B3 credits and sub-scale M&A.

UBS will rise again! And then we can again afford to pay A2s enough to hire maids with a better PF bonus pool
