SA vs. FT which one?

Im an incoming graduate student getting my masters in finance at a semi-target school. For IB recruitment should i apply for SA or FT positions? many people on the site are undergrads applying for SA positions but im not finding any good sources for people getting their MSF looking for placement in IB.

Just to clarify, you mean summer analyst vs. full-time placement? If you still have more than a year left and you only have a summer to work, then apply to be a summer analyst. If you're looking to go directly into the job, apply for a FT role. Seems pretty simple, but perhaps I'm misunderstanding something?

No I understand the process of FT vs SA. But since I’m obtaining my masters in Finance without any prior experience should I just apply for FT since I may be over qualified for SA positions? Idk if you follow me lol

Ah, I think I get you. Yeah, so although you may be overqualified for a summer analyst role, there are still things like "summer associate" roles for older/more senior people in business school. You'd want to try to find a summer associate role for the summer.

In addition to what I said above, some companies will approach your situation with the mindset that @ItsTheSoggyBottomBoys mentioned. Really, just apply for everything you think sounds neat, and once/if you get the offer, you can work out the official title.

Ok thanks. I was a bit confused because many SA specifically states “undergraduate” which confusing. Also, any recommendations on interning during my MSF then applying to FT positions after 3 months or so
