Scapegoat

New joiner at a BB here.

ED assigned me to compile a some legal documents with an associate. The associate did her parts and sent me over the rest, and I put everything together and sent back to ED last week.

ED was very annoyed due to some parts he didn’t like at all, but those were done by associate. The ED emailed me back three days later basically yelling at me.

I had verbally told ED that those parts belonged to the associate, but he still sent me the email anyway. What should I do?

You reply back saying "We will fix it". It's a team effort. When you fuck something up, you don't want the other analyst or associate saying "It's Analyst 1's fault". Rule of thumb is to never throw a colleague under the bus unless it there is some sort of bad faith behavior going on (ie outright laziness, apathy towards the work product, etc).
