Hi, I was wondering if anyone had any information on the new Tech Team that is being built by SVB Leerink. I know they hired nine bankers from UBS, but does anyone know about what their hiring needs and timelines are for analysts and associates for the near term as they build out the team?

They are interviewing analysts (not sure about associates) now, targeting mid august for hitting the desk.
Thanks for the info. Do you know if analysts are expected to have 1-2 years of prior experience or are they looking for fresh graduates, albeit with prior IB internship experience?
They're looking for people that can hit the ground running. I wouldnt shy from applying, especially if you can knock the technical Qs out of the park. Prior exp is always a plus obviously.
Will deal flow be going through both New York and SF office?
Both actually from what I’ve heard. Sounds like the analysts can sit in whatever office we have
how is the group compared to a Jefferies/RBC/Houlihan TMT? whats comp like?

Impossible to say as they haven’t even started yet. I would guess given the background of the team that they would be above both HL and RBC. Who knows how they will compare to Jefferies.
Any updates on the recruiting timelines for analysts? Did the team already hire all the analysts?
I believe they are wrapping up now or already done, as the analysts are already hitting the desk
Does this mean there will not be any formal training program prior to starting work?
Just know that joining a new group like that as an analyst means that you have basically no precedent materials to lean back on and will be expected to create everything and all the infrastructure from scratch, which will be very painful

New group so no clue but I’d assume similar to how the UBS SF office ran processes.
They expect you to hit the ground running. know your technicals cold. other than that nothing insane
Any new info on interview process? How many rounds? I would assume it would be with mainly senior bankers
4ish rounds i believe. including a short presentation on a topic of your choice as the final round. 1 of those rounds is all technicals
A final presentation? This as a way to see skills on PowerPoint?
Does anyone have experience working with the team that came over from UBS? Whether it’s MDs or directors? Curious what their culture is going to be like.
Talked with a few MDs and VPs, all were really nice and seemed excited to start something new

healthcare for SVB is done for summer recruiting, not sure if the tech team is bringing on interns tbh

I heard on my campus they're building out a LevFin team? Is that true? Especially with the UBS/Leerink teams, would this make them competitive with Jefferies, EB's or the like in the next few years?
