Solomon Partners vs. FT Partners - Which Is A Better Firm

Which of the two is better in terms of SA lateral opps, prestige, and overall experience. I guess what I am asking is if you got an offer as an SA from both SP and FTP, which would you accept?

I am also interested to an extent which would be a better choice between the two for FT recruiting? which firm has better MF PE exits? Does the superior EB-like pay at FT Partners outweigh the great wlb/culture at Solomon Partners?

Solomon Partners all the way for SA and full time … isn’t even a question… the cultural difference between SP and FTP is like the difference between Heaven and Hell, respectively. Regarding lateral opps, at SP you’ll be coming in as a generalist which gives you a lot of of opportunities to lateral to any coverage group, rather than only being confined to lateraling to FinTech, FIG, or Tech groups. Plus you’ll be working on a ton of M&A deals, certainly way more than you would at FTP since they’re mostly cap markets. As a full time analyst, you have a much better shot at getting into an MF PE fund at SP, without a doubt. Regarding pay, yes while FTP has the highest base at 140, they are likely to make up for that by giving out a lower bonus with TC coming out to ~$200 which is around the same TC as SP.
