SOPHOMORE YEAR ADVICE..help

Hi everyone,

I am new to WSO and a current sophomore at a non-target school (Rutgers) double majoring in Finance & Economics. I initially went to CC for 3 years (due to financial and health reasons) where I received an associates in Business Administration. Once I transferred with a full ride scholarship, I decided I wanted to double major so I was able to declare as a sophomore instead of a junior.

After having small chats with people in the industry, doing my excessive research, and carefully figuring out if IB is right for me, I have decided that I want to pursue investment banking and really want to make sure I am on the right track and of course with hard work and dedication, be able to accomplish my goal.

I am aware of how competitive IB is in terms of work experience, I have 0 internship experience and am currently working at an amazon fulfillment center. I have applied for unpaid internships but none of the employers have reached back to me yet. Should I be looking for a new job or an internship during the school year?

I am currently studying for the CFA investment foundations certification and looking for a good financial modeling course package to work on and to add onto my resume.

I wanted to ask people who work in IBD what steps I should be taking and how to better my chances in landing a SA role which will eventually lead to a full time offer.

Any tips or advice is deeply appreciated!

Thanks everyone!
