State Department of Banking Internship ??
Hi everyone,
I want to ask for some advice. I might be given the opportunity to have a Fall internship at my State's Department of Banking, Securities and Investments Division. I wonder how this experience will look on my resume. I want to break into IB either after graduation (Graduating Fall 2020) or after MBA, but definitely want to work in Finance (maybe Corp Finance, Alt. Investments, etc.). If I were to take this opportunity which consists mainly of compliance & regulatory work, would this help me advance in the world of Finance?
My main worry is that taking this opportunity will only lead to Compliance/BO work after graduation. I do not wish to go that route. I already have a Financial Services (NOT Finance related though) internship under my belt. Solid GPA from a non-target. I am applying to 2020 SA positions right now, but for now I want to know whether I should pursue this opportunity or not. How would you guys perceive an applicant like me with this experience on their resume?
