Studio summer housing NYC
Similar story as most housing threads, with the caveat being I can't deal with roommates, so am only considering studio apartments (with private bathroom). I believe NYU dorms don't have any like this, so that's out. Also ideally looking for something in a quieter place - I know FiDi is quiet but anywhere else? Preferably anywhere in Manhattan.
I'm not too familiar with the summer housing situation in NYC. Can anyone make some suggestions? Thanks.
Yeah, don't be such a god damn loser.
That's rich coming from a senior who hasn't landed a full time job yet. Get off WSO and focus on that instead m8
Airbnb. But, that will be extremely expensive. Also check Craigslist if you're willing to take the risk.
NYU housing and sublets FB group (open to non-NYU people) is a good source for finding housing. It's a bit more last minute though so March is probably the earliest that summer places would be posted.
The only time FiDi is quiet is at night - and that's nyc "quiet" - during the day it's a shit show. It's also a fucking terrible place to live compared to essentially anywhere else with similar rent prices. One more piece of advice, dropping between 2,200-3000 (depending on quality) for a studio is ridiculous so if you want to live in a shitty dorm all summer that's all you but I highly recommend finding a roommate, or somebody looking for one, and using common sense to derive whether or not they will eat your face in a cannibalistic episode.
Thanks. Roommate is absolutely out of the question, I don't live with strangers. Quiet at night is what's important for sleeping, I don't imagine I'll be there during the day much. There seem to be some good furnished studios at around the $2500 mark in midtown. Guess I'll aim for those.
Doesn't have to be strangers, coming from an Ivy you should have friends working in IB that you would be able to room with. While I'm sure you could afford $2500 with the money from SA why not save about $1000 monthly and just find a friend to split it with.
Why is a roommate "absolutely out of the question"? Seems like a good way to make friends, be around ppl your own age etc.
As you said, you wont be there much anyway but it will help a fair amount wrt getting to know ppl.
