Switching away from Finance
Hi WSO,
I am seeking genuine advice on this one from people who have gone through recruiting or people who have decided to switch from finance to another industry. To give you a quick background of myself, currently a junior and have completed two IB internships at a boutique. Have been recruiting and networking for the past year and have created some solid networks. After the two internships, realized im not super interested in finance. Now I got a bunch of thoughts going through my head - what should I tell my networks not burn bridges and how will I be viewed if I suddenly make the change (away from finance and into another field like consulting or development roles at F500)? I realized that I am just not that interested in finance but also don't want to quit after months of networking and preparing and am curious if there is anyone else who has gone through this situation while recruiting or just even after a summer of internship. I am very risk-averse person, so I am always calculating the risks in my head and thinking about the downsides, but am I overthinking this? If not, any advice?
