Has anyone noticed the investments BBs are making into technology within the investment banks?

As a first year analyst in banking, I've noticed SO many inefficiencies in the system or doing things one way because your MD or VP wants things done in one very specific way and then continues to change their mind leading to endless turns. I'm always thinking about how things can be much more streamlined and automated, but I got the impression that nobody, especially my fellow analysts, really care because we'll all be out in 1.5 years. Does anyone see value in the investment BBs seem to be putting in technology?
