TMT boutique to media PE
Am wondering if anyone could provide insight into how feasible it would be to move from a place like Allen & Co or LionTree to PE shops with media practices like Providence Equity, Crestview, TPG, Vista, etc.

Definitely possible. Keep in mind school matters too for PE recruiting but LionTree has been gaining some market share on West Coast not too sure about in NYC.
In what sense does school matter? Is it about coming from a prestigious/rigorous undergrad institution?
I'd say bank matters more, but school matters some in the sense some of the MFs and UMMs really care about it and it just helps with networking, of course.
Would argue it matters the most to headhunters. They typically rely more heavily on “indicators” like school, bank, group, etc. than the actual investment professionals at funds that can tell a lot more about the quality of a candidate based on their specific experiences, subject matter knowledge, etc.
