Transferring to Semi-Target. Recommendations?
I'm currently a freshman at a non-target and I'm planning on transferring after my sophomore year. One of the (many) things I'm looking for in a school is some solid On Campus Recruiting and placement for IB.
I have a small list of schools right now(Brown, Cornell, George Washington University, Boston College, Georgetown ) but I'm looking for some more because I really want to have a firm idea of where I will be applying ASAP.
Anyone have a particular school or program to recommend? (One thing to note though, I'm only looking at schools in the Northeast really.)
Could you be more vague? You can list schools. If you're transferring, where are you now (don't have to name this) and what schools are you looking at (definitely name these)?

My mistake, I edited my post and added some of the schools I'm looking at. I'm currently at a really small non-target, not even sure if anyone here would have heard of it, the focus of the school/student body is leaning more towards the medical field & engineering.
In order to suggest schools you should probably list your Highschool/college GPA and SAT scores those kind of play into where you can transfer to.
HS GPA: 94 out of 100 SAT 1480 College GPA so far, 3.86

GWU is a non target. BC is marginally better.
I'd say Cornell> Georgetown > Brown....BC >>>>>>> GWU
FYI these schools DO have their last year undergraduate placements online and I have seen a few of them.
I'd essentially agree with this. Cornell is the true "target" on the list (AEM), and Brown is also a target (though it's got less bankers I'd say) and Gtown-BC are semi target. GWU is a non-target.
What about NYU Stern. It's easier to transfer into than brown (I don't know for sure on this - but brown is actually pretty hard to get into... certainly harder than Cornell despite being less of a target in the banking world) and it's just as good of a choice for OCR. I'd actually venture to say transferring into Columbia won't be any harder than brown - and it's a way, way better school for banking/PE placement (it's one of the best).
realistically Cornell, NYU and in a pinch maybe BC? Keep those grades up as high as you possible can.

I've found detailed placement info online for Georgetown and Cornell but if you/anyone else has any info on the others let me know.
What are you studying now? I'm applying for transfer this year (as a sophomore), with those stats you are competitive for semi-targets. I would suggest applying to maybe 2 reach/targets and maybe 3-4 match/semi-targets. Personally I would spend your time focusing on around 5-6 schools where you would definitely go if you were accepted versus throwing out 12 crappy rushed/crappy applications to a variety of schools.
Transferring is a lot of work, start early.
I haven't declared a major or anything yet but the plan was to study Comp Sci or possibly Electrical Engineering. I'm anticipating it being lots of work so I am trying to get a head start on it all.
Cornell senior here... I have been very satisfied with the on-campus recruiting and you will definitely have plenty of options. Cornell also has a good social scene relative to its academic reputation.
Word of caution, if you get into EE or CS here you will hate your life.
I'm actually interested in the AEM school at Cornell. Working to make sure I have all the required classes done. I know Cornell takes a healthy amount of transfer students, do you know any transfer students who are in AEM? I'm curious as to what a successful applicants stats would look like.
Incidentally, I transferred to AEM as a junior and know plenty of people who transferred as sophomores. I highly recommend AEM over any other major here for banking.
My transfer story is somewhat unique and wouldn't be helpful, but in terms of sophomore friends that I have, I would say 3.9+ with leadership extracurriculars would be ideal. Something else to possibly keep in mind, you could apply as a transfer to any major (preferably one with the highest success rate) and then transfer into AEM internally during your junior year. Hey, do you know if it's possible to transfer from a Canadian university as a sophomore to AEM? Coincidentally, I have a 3.8 GPA, some work experience, ECs.
Georgetown sucks for transferring into the business school. As for BC, I don't know why it keeps being called a semi-target. There are so many kids that land top BB jobs. Last year there were 21 summer analysts at Barclays and I believe 20 got offers to go back.
