Turned down IB offer for Asset Management Sales - HOW CAN I GET BACK INTO IB??
Hi Monkeys,
I turned down a very lucrative graduate scheme offer (analyst) from a 2nd tier BB in IB after graduating with a Master's degree (not MBA). Instead, I accepted a position at a 1st tier BB in Asset Management Institutional Sales (only sales gig I applied to and it sounded as if you'd get excellent client exposure, focus on alts fundraising, great company culture etc.). 2 years in, I am facing dismal base+bonus, no upward/international mobility, asset management business performing very, very badly due to fee pressure and covid, horrible culture among sales "teams". I realised I do not want to work with institutional clients (ie pensionfunds, asset managers) and that I REALLY want to be back in IB (LevFin/Sponsors).
I tried to change internally and externally but the only other jobs I seem to be getting are in IR. How can I escape sales/IR WITHOUT doing an MBA?
Also, I am not American, based in a European financial center, and it would be very difficult to get into IB in the US under Trump's new H1B regulations with an MBA (my otherwise preferred option).
Any advise/thoughts appreciated!!!
