amazing office, lots of nice chairs and big bay windows in the bank of America building on California street. walls and floors are paneled with very nice mahogany wood and lights look like crystal chandeliers I even looked outside the window and saw some rainbows near the golden gate bridge. beautiful

yes, they also have a pet unicorn that you can feed the hopes and dreams of UBS analysts

The Tech group is a sweatshop. Last year the 1st years started out making $60K salary, when every other firm was paying $70K. I'm sure that was rectified quickly, but that really struck me as a sign of internal disarray.

The group is definitely moving in the right direction. They've worked on a lot of big deals recently and have brought some heavy hitters on board as well. Lots of activity there.

The office is really nice and the people in the group are awesome as well.

As far as exit opps - they've placed a few people at Sequoia and a number of VC shops in the area. The group is big on direct promoting as well if that's something you'd like to consider.

Salary is same as the Street.

Terrible brand, low dealflow, they work on middle market deals now, horrible exit ops, place is falling apart (all of UBS, not just SF), and did I mention a horrible brand name associated with failure and scandal?

Not sure about other groups, but I know for a fact that FS/LF disintegrated recently - everyone in SF left for a boutique. Healthcare also got destroyed when Lorello left. I'd stay away from UBS SF for now.

fslf was the only reason to even consider going there, and that's basically dead now in sf

tech group was completely irrelevant even before the firm started going downhill

1styearBankerI agree 100% with Pierce. If you want tech go for GS TMT, BAML, WF, CS, etc.
What're those acronyms? GS=goldman sachs

But the rest?

Would you really take WF in S.F. over UBS? It seems like they are rebuilding their TMT group at UBS and it's certainly larger than WF.

I know they have tech out there but it got owned. they were hiring one or two last fall... no tech deals to speak out (worth knowing)

What about Citi Tech in Palo Alto?

A quick Google search of "TMT investment banking" reveals as hit #1 "J.P. Morgan | Technology, Media & Telecom" Thus, GS TMT is probably Goldman Sachs, Technology, Media & Telecom.

Same thing for "BAML investment banking" reveals "Bank of America Merrill Lynch in Japanp"

Imagine you are a real investment banker and I am your MD. Now imagine me screaming at you not to waste my time and to look it up yourself. This really happens. When MDs say "get a clue" this is what they are talking about. I am giving you very good advice right now.

Yea you should do a search.

I have a ubs interview soon, do you guys know if we can pick locations too? When is UBS asia and europe recruiting? is it easy to move from nyc to other locations?
