Uchicago Alums Suck

Sophmore going through recruiting right now, and have seen other schools alums look out for their students, and actually help them through the process. Meanwhile at UChicago, if your not  TBC, high tier frat there’s a low chance that analysts will take your calls. Trend has stayed constant with BBs and EBs with analysts straight up saying they won’t take calls during info session unless your from x club. Why is UChicago like this? Venting a little bit here but peers at the school I have spoken to have had similar experiences. As a prospect, do not come to UChicago there’s many better schools out there with alums that actually care about their students.

Lol. Unreal ego, someone was receptive to your call that’s why you’re an Analyst today. Some fool will climb become too big and look for way to destroy the ladder

While I agree that it’s a pain, I got plenty of calls without being in a club or a frat. I feel like you are just not reaching out to enough people. I think you’d benefit a lot from asking an upperclassmen for help. There are people who will talk to you without TBC or UIBG.

skill issue. As an alum, have been helped and have helped others. Was not in TBC and neither were most of the kids I helped. Most commonly kids around me that weren't getting responses had blatantly uncompetitive resumes which is a good indicator you aren't a serious candidate for a school rife with opportunities

How do you go to UChicago but you don't know basic grammar? If you made these same basic errors in your emails that might be why

Here’s the truth about UChicago: the top 25% get the same opps as HYPSM; the other 75% get scraps. If you’re part of the top quartile, you’re set. If you’re an average Biz Econ major with no top club membership, you’re cooked.

Makes sense. But wouldn't that be for most schools below HYPSM? Duke or Dartmouth, for example. Is it really any different there? Apart from nepo hires or the top percentile, it seems its still pretty common to strike out. In fact, I was under the impression that UChicago was better in that regard (less nepotism). Please correct me if I've been misinformed.

USC alums were dogshit when I recruited. I was in TIS Mentorship and had a great resume, but my response rate was still 1%. I had more calls with non-USC bankers and HS alums.

went to one of Wharton/NYU Stern with 100+ going into IB every year and it's hard since there are 300-500 sophomores gunning for those spots.

Depends on how many kids at UChicago are recruiting and how many actually place. Heard anecdotally for class of 2027 was something like 80-100 which is impressive. If 200 kids are recruiting, 50% rate of breaking in is really good
