Undergraduate help

International student from Asia here. I really want to get into Investment banking in a place where the market is huge e.g. USA, Middle East, etc.

I have offers from:

Western Ivey, Queen’s Commerce in Canada

Fordham Gabelli, IU Bloomington Kelley, Rutgers in USA

Right now my top choice is leaning towards Ivey but the markets in canada are just so small compared to places like the US. I was wondering if Ivey holds any great prestige in places like thr UK, USA, Middle East.

Also, is the pipeline from Ivey to USA still functioning? I really need help so any advice would be appreciated.

Do you think an international student can break into NYC from Western Ivey? Would the proximity to NYC from Fordham Gabelli not make it a local targt for NYC firms? I saw that the Finance Scholars program was pretty successful in placing kids into IBDs in NYC. But then again, the WIC was also pretty good. I just really want to work in New York.

Ivey's pipeline to the U.S. is currently breaking down because of the visa situation but realistically if you are just starting undergrad now then it should hopefully be better by the time you are in your third year of university. However, from my personal experience and hearing from kids at Queens, Queens offers a higher quality of education. Ivey is only a 2 year business degree because of the 2+2 model and they have been having a lot of complaints to the point where they are debating on switching this.

The only benefit I would say Ivey has over queens is stronger networking benefits and you pretty much have guaranteed 3.7 GPA without trying at all in your final two years of university.

Ivey is facing some heat from visa stuff. Out of the options you listed, IU Kelley is good if you do well enough to get into the IB workshop they have there. I would choose that as it is the safest option, but if Ivey wasn't so cooked rn I would say that. I'm pretty sure I read somewhere that Evercore stopped hiring from Ivey for H1B reasons and some banks don't sponsor.

Best way to put it, don't go to a Canadian school if you want to recruit for US. US schools guarantee you can get internships in NYC. It's hard enough getting US jobs with Canadian citizenship so not sure what situation would be like with a visa.
