Weirdest interns who have ever worked under / co-interned with you - EMEA

With the variety of nationalities (& potentially wider range of personal quirks & faux pas) London offers, I'm doing this thread to hear such stories.

One ordered from McDonald’s for dinner every single day. Didn’t get return offer
Another one was always wearing a red tie and when asked why he said Donald Trump also wears one. Didn’t get return offer
One girl was so clumsy she killed 3 laptops in 10 weeks. Got the return offer
One guy would sometimes during social events pull out his work laptop to pretend he is busy but he was only check in his mail. Didn’t get return offer

I like how the girl committed the worst offense but is the only one who got a return offer

I think that was USA—where diversity hires actually get significant special treatment. In EMEA, diversity only increases your chances of an interview at the lottery of a bazillion overqualified 30 year old master's students with 10 previous internships

Killing laptops arent that big of a deal. Its annoying for IT but its whatever for everyone else. Stuff like ordering McDonald's (like wtf u work at an investment bank that expenses ur meals), Donald Trump comment (no intern should be making any comments regarding political affiliations), and pretending to work in a social event (NPC behaviour) are much more annoying.

Going to have a hot take here: Bit weird on both sides, need more context.

Secret Santa's are fine, but you should put a cap on it for $ value. On your end it was weird to put the intern in a position to buy a gift for a dude who makes 50x his summer salary a gift. No win position for the intern as he can't afford anything the MD actually wants, and anything he can afford the MD won't give a shit about (golf balls, hat for a sports team, $50 bottle of wine).

That being said, the intern did get him a weird gift. Should have gotten the MD a hat he would throw in the back of his closet until his wife makes him throw it out in 10 years.

In the US btw - one of the other interns would get pretty hammered at every team outing, basically to the point of slurring words. everyone thought it was funny, and dude was a serious grinder so he got the return lol.

Many years ago, I did my SA at BLK and I ordered KFC for me and my frat house every day, brought beers to office every Friday, and did not attend any of the HR events.... I did not get a return (despite delivering product) but my associates were super chill and referred me to a top BB.

Honestly not sure why I thought this would be okay but I'm not silver spooned / manor-born and do a lot of conventionally weird shit.
