Wells Fargo NYC

Hey all. I was wondering if anyone can tell me about WF in NY. What industries/coverage groups are mostly run out of the nyc office and what are the sizes of the teams? I just want to get to know a little more because I would rather work in NY than Charlotte. Thanks.

Consider a different bank. If you're serious about the business, you'll want to be at the bank's hq (WF's ibank is hq'd in Charlotte). Sounds to me like you just want to party in NYC, so you should probably consider a NY bank.

But to put your mind at ease, WF does very little hiring for the NY office. They generally send employees and senior experienced hires to Park Ave, not recruits.

As posted above, most of the groups are in Charlotte. ECM is in New York as well as S&T.

Additionally, they do (or did) have some element of TMT and Power/Energy..but literally, we are talking a few people.

I know NYC is the end all be all for some folks, but you should at least consider the move to Charlotte if the offer is there. It's not that bad of a place and you get more for you money. And don't worry, even though it isn't NYC, you will still be chained to your desk (at least in some groups).

Regards

I could be wrong, but I thought most of the trading desks were in Charlotte, with only a few being in NYC? And there are definitely at least a few analyst spots in NYC if that's what you want... I actually know a few kids from this year's and last year's analyst classes that will be/are up in NYC.

Eastdil Secured is in NY and is a subsidiary of Wells Fargo -- top bank for real estate. You most likely cannot join with a general offer from Wells, regardless they are worth knowing about.

Lots of incorrect info in this thread. E&P is in Texas with some clt people. Primary ny groups are industrials and fsg. There may be some traders in NY but most are in Charlotte. You may be a bit late, I think there is a super day in clt this Saturday.

Let's stay as accurate as possible here folks. Wells had no investment bank, Wachovia's became Wells'. The investment bank is 'based' in Charlotte. There are more ibankers in WF's St Louis and Houston offices then in SF. As far as numbers go, there are roughly 4-5 times as many analysts and associates in charlotte as in nyc. The a&a's in sf would fit in a minivan.
