According to the financial times it says that the following firms are doing the most M&A in the following order? Can anyone extrapolate on this or recommend where is best to look more on placement and where the most M&A is being done? Thanks!!!

I mean, that is a pretty good start to the list. If you want to do basically pure M&A advisory work then go to an EB (Lazard, Evercore, Moelis, Centerview, etc.).

All the BB's do a substantial amount of M&A, though sometimes the lower to mid-tier balance sheet BB's can have their M&A fees "overstated" since often they are kind of thrown a bone on the M&A fee side since they provided the financing.

GS/Barclays execute M&A out of the industry groups while I believe all the others (MS, JPM, BAML, Citi, CS, UBS, DB) have separate M&A groups that take on a varying amount of the M&A workload. Regardless even if you have are in a coverage group at a bank with a separate M&A group you will still work on a number of M&A transactions.
