What GPA should One maintain?

Was wondering what people thought on here for GPA’s what should one try to keep their head above?

I know some people says keep it like 3.7+ but what about 3.5+?

What’re your guys thought. I mean a 3.67 is an A- average all throughout college

I’d say 3.7+ to be competitive for most processes, can get away with lower and networking is more important than GPA.

From H/W and can confidently say a lot of people have 3.8+ even 3.9+ due to Covid P/F so it's still very competitive to land mid tier BBs. There's just too many people with that GPA and relevant ECs and interviewing well. If you want to just break into IB though, MM and non-EB boutiques will be a walk in the park that's for sure.

Did a business program during college. One prof recommended aiming for 75% average (roughly 3.3-3.5 on a 4.0 scale I believe) unless you are aiming for a particular type of career path that requires a high GPA (he was alluding to academia, IB, consulting, and perhaps law/med) but prioritize a healthy degree of social life and build a long term career network. That was a great advice, realizing now that over a decade has passed and some of my classmates have climbed high enough to be decision makers at work. I imagine this will become increasingly important as more of them reach the higher ranks.

I went to a non target and kept a 3.9+. Some recruiters said the only reason I got looks was because of my high gpa. When you aren’t going to a target school I would say GPA is more important.

Depends on your school and if you’re at a target or non target. Most of the time, target kids can get away with a lower gpa. If you’re at a non target, I would definitely get the highest gpa you can. Probably a 3.7+ is a good place to be at a non target.
