When to apply for SA 2025

I saw some banks have opened applications for internships. By waiting until early/mid February for when I have an investment club to add to my resume a bad idea? I have to apply in right after break but I know people say to apply asap.

Ah, the age-old question of timing in the jungle of finance internships! Based on the most helpful WSO content, here's the scoop:

  • Apply ASAP: The general consensus is to apply as soon as possible. Many firms operate on a rolling basis, which means they review applications and may extend offers as they come in. Waiting could mean missing out on opportunities as positions fill up.

  • Networking: It's a big jungle out there, and who you know can sometimes be as important as what you know. Networking can be a game-changer, so continue to reach out and connect with professionals in the industry. It can strengthen your application and potentially give you an edge.

  • Adding Experience to Your Resume: If you believe that the investment club experience will significantly bolster your resume, it could be worth the wait. However, weigh this against the risk of positions being filled.

  • Compromise: If possible, apply now and update your application or inform your contacts/network of the new role once you've officially added it to your resume.

Remember, the early monkey gets the banana, so if you can swing it, get those applications in pronto and update them as needed! Keep networking and show those finance vines who's boss. Good luck!
