Which offer would you take and why?

SA 2021: have two exploding offers and not sure which one to take. BAML Levfin v CVP Healthcare. Both in NYC. Got accelerated for both through network/diversity events.

if you’re interested in 2 years and out, go baml.

think it’s more of a debate if that’s not the case. what are your feelings on Levfin v. Healthcare?

EDIT: didn’t know CVP was generalist

Really just depends on what you are interested in doing.

BAML LevFin - work with all industries and various sorts of transactions (LBO, Recap, M&A, Refi, etc.). They underwrite very large and interesting deals. Have a friend that was in the group. It is a large group, decent culture, and hours 8:00am-12:00/1:00am. Exits are pretty great, but very individualistic. Some want to do Private Equity, some want to do Private Credit, some Hedge Fund, some want to do interesting things outside of those. The group will put you in front of the right people and affords a breadth of types of exits, but quality of exits is up to your abilities/interests. They have the #1 Credit Fund exits I have seen though.

CVP - Did not know it was not generalist? But, I have a friend at CVP. 3 Year program with a hefty bonus clawback if you leave early. You will get paid almost 2x more than most top banks. Hours vary, but they do grind a lot. You'll be working on M&A transactions with solid dealflow. I hear its a decent culture and many at CVP stay for the long haul. However, exits are there if you realize banking is not for you.

This is a decision up to you and there is no wrong one. Just try to ignore prestige whores who have yet to hit a desk/have their balls drop.
