Who still parties here? Work hard play hard?

This question is geared towards those working in investment banking, especially at notable firms including bulge brackets and elite boutiques. Not college kids or international antisocial guys who got banking gigs solely on their GPA and analytical abilities.

Particularly interested in those working in SF, LA and NY. Since you got your Analyst (or even Summer Analyst) gig, how drastically did you have to cut out your social life? Is it possible to squeeze in 1-2 nights a week of going out to a bar/club and actually spit games to girls and have a good time?

Is this realistic in today's banking era? Feel free to share stories and suggestions on how to maintain a balanced social life while working 80-100 hours per week.

Interested because I will be starting a BB level gig and I have no idea

hey op. i've networked extensively in LA (im a senior with a FT offer as well) and from what i've been told/seen, you can still go out like 4-5 nights a month on average for clubbing or getting hammered so like 1/week and if luckyyyy maybe 2 nights a week like once every 4 weeks.

so ya, its possible even working 80-100hrs/week

I don't throw darts at a board. I bet on sure things. Read Sun-tzu, The Art of War. Every battle is won before it is ever fought- GG

My biggest advice is go out whenever you get the chance but DO NOT drink like you're still in college. You don't really know what a hangover is until you have to deal with one in the real world with work and such as opposed to waking up at 1pm and getting brunch like you do in college after a night of heavy drinking.

You haven't lived until you throw up in one of the stalls at work on a Sunday morning.

Yes. I learned my lesson after a miserable work day of holding in nasty beer farts on the floor and constantly running to the bathroom to let them out.
