Why cant seniors do a summer internship after graduating...?

Hi all,

So I've seen in a lot of banking job descriptions and I'm not so sure why summer internships are mostly aimed at juniors/rising seniors? What if a graduating senior is interested in doing an internship in banking? After all, they can start working FT as soon as they're done with their summer so why not consider the graduating class? I noticed this because I recently applied for a summer 2020 role by mistake for a MM bank and they're agreed to interview me DESPITE me being a rising senior. Why can't more banks be like that?

Do you think seniors should have opportunities to do summer internships?

Cheers!

Banks will have already filled their full time class by the time you start, they will have no need for someone else. And the full time training overlaps with summer analysts work
