Why stay on as an associate IBD

Hello, I'm a senior IBD analyst thinking about whether to stay on as an associate or attempt to recruit for buy-side roles. Unsure what I want to do long term so would appreciate hearing other people's logic behind their decisions.

A) To the analysts planning to stay in IBD, why do you want to remain for the associate promo? B) To the associates/VPs on this forum, why did you choose to stay in IBD and not recruit for buy-side?

Especially when the role adds more stress to your life the more senior you get.

The question should always be: compared to what?

Some people find out the buyside life isn't always greener pastures and PE faces a different but equally intense kind of pressure given how crowded the space is. The pressure to deploy dry powder is heavy.

The IB VP+ lifestyle improves drastically, and people who are more suited for sales/client facing roles will do well. As an A2A you will be an efficient associate helping bridge the gap of those years. Assuming you progress, you could be pulling in big money by your early 30s and set yourself up for a variety of exits if you wanted.
