Why was my debit card captured by the ATM? (See the unusual details.)

I'm hoping someone familiar with ATM/Banking operations can answer this. I put my debit card in the ATM (my bank), typed the first digit of my pin, and the next key didn't beep, and the screen went back to the welcome screen. My card was still inside it. The buttons wouldn't beep. The cancel button didn't work. I called customer service (800#, it was late), and decided to cancel the card and have a new one issued. (They asked questions, such as if my PIN was written on the card, which it wasn't.) When we got to the new card issuance, they said they wouldn't mail the new card to me, but I had to have it sent to a branch. It will be there in about a week. I called the bank with the ATM the next day during business hours, and they said there were no reported problems with the ATM. I asked if my account was in good standing, and it is. It is a Key Bank card and ATM. The card was in perfect condition. What happened????

This is an investment banking forum, Rachel. Not commercial banking.

But I think it was a small technical glitch. Forget and move on.

It seems strange to me they won't mail me the new card, and I have to go pick it up...

It's a scam, Rachel. It's ALL a scam. You heard about the recent LIBOR scandal? That's only the tip of the iceberg. If you ask your bank teller whether the Gnomes of Zurich give him/her orders, the teller will look at you strangely and won't admit it. The teller may even call security, because once THEY know YOU know, they have to eliminate you. So don't mention it. Check your back account numbers - does the number 23 appear in any of them? That's a sign they have you marked. Sometimes it's coded, like "167" ie 16 + 7 = 23. Watch out for that. Eventually you will be able to see the fnords.

Those who can, do. Those who can't, post threads about how to do it on WSO.

167 * 4 = 668 668 - 2 = 666 - number of the beast

I'd watch out if I was you op.... the 300 heads of the committee of satanic banker familes are after you
