Will a W on my transcripts affect me?

I am freshman at a target school, and I intend to get into consulting. I am taking a course that I am not enjoying at all. I had very different expectations for the course; it turned out to be not interesting to me, and I have no motivation to study for this course.

Will withdrawing and having a W on my transcript affect me for getting interviews later on?

In a similar situation. How will a pass/fail look on a transcript?

I had one W and still got into IB. But you should only have one or two. Multiple will look very bad. Also have a story prepared if asked about it in an interview.

Never had a W, but close friends did. Wouldn’t expect to get asked in an interview, since rarely have they ever had my transcript, and even if they do I’m not sure the interviewers would look. That said, a W definitely doesn’t look great. Try Pass/Fail. To answer the other question on this thread, P/F never hurts you if it’s a class unrelated to your major or fields of study. Could hurt if you took business classes P/F but otherwise I’d doubt it. If you really hate the class/know you will borderline fail, withdraw, but otherwise I’d look to P/F if you can.

W’s are better than C’s, especially if you take the class another time and do well in it. Either way it doesn’t affect your gpa, which firms use to screen. Take the W or risk taking an L this semestre.

Maybe for some business schools, but for Wharton it doesn't really matter if you have one or two (talked to the admissions people here a while back). Honestly, I doubt any of them care much outside of overall GPA and major. Business school is more about your career
