Worried About Leadership

I’m in a few leadership positions at school, and although I would say I’m decently competent in what I do and not brain dead , I have a really hard time getting that balance of being respected but also showing subordinates that they can get along with me (I tend to lean more towards one or the other and it either makes for a seemingly consequence-free environment or an incredibly stiff one). This sounds really stupid, but I’d love to hear people’s opinions in the actual professional world on whether leadership is honed over time or something that people are naturally talented at. I’m in a vicious cycle right now where I’m unconfident in myself which makes for weaker leadership which in turn makes me less confident, and I’m worried this will bleed into my career in IB and beyond. I’m not sure where I can go from here.
