Would a 5th year in undergrad hurt in placements?

I'm currently a freshman at University of Michigan, planning to apply to Ross School of Business as an internal transfer for my sophomore year. My chances right now are looking pretty good, but in the event that I don't get in, I'd probably try again the following year. However, the problem is that Ross is a 3 year program, and if I apply as a sophomore, I'd have to do an extra year in undergrad (as many people do here). If I do end up having to do a 5th year as an undergrad, would it hurt my chances of getting summer analyst placements in the future, or would it help since I would would have more experience? Or would it not matter?

Any advice?

Thanks

I know a guy who took an extra year in undergrad because he wasn't satisfied with his JPM IBD offer. Ended up receiving an offer from Bain Capital the following year. A fifth year can actually give you a massive advantage over your competition provided you use it wisely. In your situation, I would definitely recommend the fifth year.

[I can PM you his linkedin if you want.]
