Well its really opportunity... The industry he has become successful in now is because of his opportunity and because he was good in his position. If he dedicated his time to this industry and he had his same connections than Id say he has an alright chance, but going to a non target would make it very difficult...

So you want us to assume he wasn't everything that makes him Donald Trump? Why not just ask if some Joe Blow could break into IB then?

Yes, like him or not, he clearly is pretty motivated. Also, having a degree from anywhere back then meant a lot more than it does now. Ulitimatey, he did go to Wharton, did have connections, did come from money, did build a business, did become a household name and did become president. What would make anyone think he couldn't become a banker?

Only two sources I trust, Glenn Beck and singing woodland creatures.

GWB got into Yale. Back then riches meant a lot more than your SAT scores as far as getting into a school like that (a lot of people would say that still holds). This hypothetical is dumb af.

I think wealth helps two ways:

Not having to worry about student loans

Having access to alumni who might be willing to write you a letter of recommendation.

Otherwise I agree that getting accepted now is probably an easier vs the sixties.

he had shit grades at Wharton and only transferred from Fordham because his older brother had connections with admissions. overall a poor college student

probably not relevant since he had the connections to get into IB if he wanted, but saying he went to a top school isn't an indication of his talent (particularly back then)
