WSP vs Wall Street Training vs BIWS vs NYIF Investment Banking Certification
Hey everyone,
Which course do you think would be most beneficial for a sophomore in college looking to secure an IB internship? Which certification would be most respected by employers? Thank you all in advance!

Bump. Would greatly appreciate any insight.
BIWS is much more analogous to questions you’ll get in interviews than WSP and is more helpful for preparing for them imo. BIWS is always the go-to for interview prep.
If you do the interview course on WSP you’ll have some holes. BIWS goes further in depth which youll appreciate in technical interviews.
That said, if you want to learn how to model, understand the M&A process, LBO process, etc then definitely use WSP. WSP also has a ton of other courses/webinars that are very helpful and will build a wider base of knowledge (demystifying restructuring, biotech valuation, IPOs, fixed income, etc)
Also, to answer your question about certification: I don’t think people list these certifications on their resumes but just do them for general knowledge.
I’ve been told not to put on resume because 1) it looks gimmicky 2) it opens up a can of worms for you to get asked in-depth technicals. (Same exact logic as to why I don’t list “excel” in my skills section)
That said, if you don’t have a finance background or any relevant internship experience feel free to put it on as long as you handle any technicals that people may throw at you
Appreciate the reply! Currently have absolutely no finance experience/background, so I am really looking to add something to my resume that would boost my position as a viable candidate for an IB job. In this scenario, would you recommend putting a certification (at the bottom of the resume)?
No problem. Yes I think in your case it’s worth it. Just make sure that you actually know the material in case you get follow-up questions.
I.e. don’t list “WSP M&A Course” and then not be able to explain accretion/dilution
Did I not answer this in the other thread? WSP or TTS are the ones that most banks use so these are probably the ones they'll like
Also, know that if you put this on your resume, you will be given more technicals than normal to prove that you actually did the course.
You did, thanks! It wasn't letting me edit my last post, but I just wanted to provide a direct list (based on your suggestions) to ask which course out of those is most advisable for my situation.
Wow, your kindndess even in a heated convo is welcoming. Can tell you are a humble guy who will succeed in life. Good luck!
