YTD League Tables
It's been a while since we've had league tables posted, so here's the YTD global league tables

For reference here's FY2021's league tables

Some notes:
- The power of a balance sheet is clear on the league tables. For all you prospects, this is why league tables are inaccurate. We have BNP Paribas and Wells Fargo, two banks that don't have strong M&A franchises, dominating the league tables this year because they've been able to get their name in the advisory credits for a bunch of mega-deals when it's really just their corporate bank's financing relationships.
- The $60 billion HDFC mega-deal which included more than a handful of advisors on both sides really affected the league tables. Of the major banks, Moelis, CS, and Jefferies really benefited from the deal, and you also see a bunch of local Indian banks towards the bottom of the T30 league tables that were also on the deal that have shot them up the league tables significantly.
- The number of deals getting done is down significantly as you'd expect, but mega-deals have still been getting done and saving the overall deal value somewhat.
.
Don't forget that EB and MMs aren't accurately represented because a huge chunk of their advisory deals are undisclosed due to the companies they work with.
Does "# of deals" include or exclude Undisclosed deals? Would be good to see that category excl. Undisclosed deals so can have a like-for-like comparison between the banks (as some of the EBs have a very high % of transactions with sponsors)
M&A isn't everything and many people don't care about M&A or advisory. More things to investment banking than that, so BNPP and WF do deserve their top spots
Oh woop de doo, look at all the WSO terrorists out in full force with their monkey shits
Nobody gives a shit if you're active right or passive bookrunner on a million DCM issuances because your corporate bank has $2 trillion in assets. Those fees aren't IB fees, they're tips to the corporate bank.
Thanks for the info! Market share refers to the transaction value of firm / total transaction value, right?
Lazard seems to be doing really well this year… what happened to Evercore? Why are they down so much???
Lazard was on the Atlantia deal which definitely helps boost them in league tables. Evercore haven't really gotten their names on any mega-cap deals this year. By this time last year I believe Evercore had already done the GE/AerCap, Grab Holdings/Altimeter Growth, Kansas City Southern/Canadian Pacific Railway, and Microsoft/Nuance deals.
