Analyst versus Intern Interview Questions: What's the differences between the two?
After reading through numerous technical and behavioral interview guides, I am still having difficulty finding to what extent I must prepare for a IB internship interview. I know the basics (what's a DCF, three ways to value company, what's a 10k/10q, what's a LBO) but am far from comfortable in financial modeling and advanced financial concepts. If I were required to create a DCF model during a interview I would simply be annihilated. My first internship search is about to kick off (I'm a incoming college freshman) and I'd love to hear about what I should be studying leading up to my first interview. Since I am a freshman, it's likely that I'll end up with a PE internship. Does this change the scope of what I should be reviewing? I know many state the skills learned from both sectors are transferrable, but I'd love to hear specific input. Thanks.

I would consider reading "Investment Banking" by Rosenbaum and Pearl since it's regarded one of the best ways for newcomers like you. It will cover comps, merger model, lbo model, and DCF. There are excel templates downloadable online on scribd. Also, you can do a crash course about DCF by enrolling into Wall Street Prep DCF Modeling course. Go to Udemy and look up "Build a DCF Valuation Model" its like 50 bucks and well worth it. The best way to learn is by doing it.
Ok cool. I appreciate the info. I've looked into the DCF templates before. Just out of curiosity, is it common for DCF templates to be provided to you? Or are you expected to construct a template from scratch?
Depends on where you work. But most likely, you will be given a template.
