Data/Tech transition to REPE/REIT - Need Advice

This is a repeat post and hoping I can get some response this time :)

I am in 30s and have a PhD from Stanford (non CS but hard science). I have been most recently employed at the intersection of business at Machine Learning at a large manufacturing F500 and make ok salary for where I live (I work as a Senior Manager). The real rub is that my industry and company are dying and I have made my mind to make a move. I also possess a strong background in Finance theory and have a good sense of risk/return concepts. I have been successful as as investor for about 8 years (though what SPY did this was not too hard). About 2 years ago I started buying Real Estate in Raleigh and Jacksonville (small multifamily). One deal led to another and now I have amassed a total of 70 units. I love it!

My goal: Seek a full time gig at a REPE/REIT, preferably use my Data/Tech hat to enter but slowly move towards more of a business role. I am looking to do what I enjoy the most for my day gig as what I do on the personal side (RE portfolio). If my personal portfolio grows big enough to support me, I may quit and do it full time. Its not there yet.

Some other thoughts: 1. I am good at relationships, sales and soft skills in general. I am fair good at tech but a developer at Google would beat me hands down. 2. I am not looking to kill myself as I need time to manage my portfolio and grow it (50 hours per week is tops) 3. I love the capital raising part in terms of my portfolio and less the operations etc. Though I love applicability of tech in operations and been thinking about some product ideas.

With that in mind, I would love to hear the community's thoughts on potential opportunities or ways in which I can position myself. What roles or areas should I consider and what does it take to get into those? I would also love to PM any/some of you and network.
