Going into senior year, thinking of on cycle recruiting and applying to MBA 2+2 program
What is the best way to plan this? I’m a junior, currently class of 2025.
My plan so far: Study for GMAT first semester senior year, take before April submission deadline
For PE on cycle: begin prep 2nd semester senior year. Only worry is pe recruitment might begin very early or I hit the desk while still prepping for pe.
Another worry is if I don’t get return offer for junior year summer. Market is unpredictable and I’m not sure what that will look like summer 2024. So then I’d be studying for gnat and recruiting for FT25.
Thoughts on how to structure my study plan? Is this feasible or should just apply for general admission after 2yrs banking + 2yrs of pe? What else should I factor? Thanks

Hey there! Your plan sounds pretty solid, but I can see why you might be feeling a bit overwhelmed. Juggling GMAT prep, PE on-cycle recruiting, and potential full-time recruiting is no small feat.
For the GMAT, starting your study in the first semester of your senior year sounds like a good plan. This will give you ample time to prepare before the April submission deadline.
As for PE on-cycle recruiting, it's true that it can start quite early. However, if you begin your prep in the second semester of your senior year, you should be in a good position. Just make sure to stay organized and manage your time effectively.
If you don't get a return offer for your junior year summer, it's not the end of the world. Yes, you might have to juggle GMAT studying and full-time recruiting, but it's doable. Just remember to stay focused and keep your end goal in sight.
As for whether to apply for the 2+2 program or wait until after 2 years of banking and 2 years of PE, that's really up to you. Both paths have their pros and cons. The 2+2 program can provide a sense of security and allow you to focus on your career, but it also requires a significant commitment. On the other hand, waiting until after you've gained more work experience can make your application stronger and give you more clarity about your career goals.
In terms of what else to factor in, consider your personal circumstances and what you want out of your career. Also, remember to take care of your mental health. This is a stressful time, and it's important to take breaks and do things you enjoy.
I hope this helps! Good luck with everything.
