MFS Investments Internship advice?
Anybody ever do an internship with MFS? I'm looking to do one in portfolio management (really excited about it!) and am wondering what peoples opinions are of it.
Would it be a solid internship for a sophomore?

I didn't think they offered internships for undergrads. I also thought most of their entry-level roles are in research rather than direct portfolio management. If you already got the offer, congrats! Any finance-related experience is great to have as a sophomore, and this one is particularly good if you're interested in Asset Management post-grad. MFS is also a very solid firm, so depending on your other options, you should take it.
MFS is a very, very good investment management firm. I wasn't aware that they had internships available either, but that's an amazing opportunity, especially for a sophomore.
.
I did a 6 month internship at the Boston headquarters. It was back office but I had a high level of interaction with the front office. Anything in particular you want answered?
How do you rate MFS Investments? (Originally Posted: 03/28/2011)
Looking to get an internship there next summer as a sophomore.
Hopefully as close to research portfolio management as I can.
How does MFS rate against Fidelity and Wellington?
Will it help me get a research internship at Fidelity/MFS/Wellington junior year even if my sophomore internship isn't directly research but working around it?
THANKS!
all good firms. fido is definitely bigger in terms of AUM but i've heard MFS and wellington are better firms to work for
From what I've heard, MFS and especially Wellington do more interesting work than Fidelity.
All these firms are VERY tough to get into and usually require an MBA from an elite school just to get an interview.
My friend got a job there right out of state school and previous job was a server.
most likely OP wants to get to associate/analyst positions in FI/Equity Research (the career path to PM)
these jobs are definitely competitive, very few slots available
exactly
HR person that interviewed me went to school at dartmouth
i'm thinking more Cleaning Services Team Associate for 35k a year
