Regretting not doing consulting? Pls help!

Junior in college with a 2023 MM IB SA offer. However, I'm not truly "interested" in IB but rather only for money and exits(come from an underprivileged background with no exposure to finance and followed the herd into IB recruiting at college). Recently I've been doing a lot of research and have learned how MBB consulting is regarded as superior in terms of skills and a long term career in business. I haven't found my calling so having more flexibility post MBB role seems beneficial and am inherently stronger on the qualitative side and prefer not to multitask. The caveat to this is how competitive MBB is, and coming from a semi-target it would be difficult. I have also heard most consulting firms besides MBB pay way less than IB and have worse exits. This has led me to not know what to do. TLDR: Consulting seems like a better fit for me but with less pay and exits unless I get MBB. Sorry if this sounds like a shitpost, fwiw all my knowledge has come from this site.

If the recession comes, you won't have to worry about it, so that's good news.

I would take the offer, so you have a job. You'll be there for like 2 - 3 years. Then you can try to make a move to consulting if you want.

You will likely have financial modelling skills, know how to talk about businesses and situations semi-intelligently and have a bigger contact list.

Worst case you can get your MBA, or leave during your analyst years.

You're taking advice on skills you might want, from strangers on the internet, and thinking about turning down a job offer based on nonsense - think about that for a second.
