Resume Crit
Resume:
http://www.razume.com/documents/29609
Background and Future Plans:
I'm a senior, networking like crazy to find a FT job in financial services, ideally in at a small investment bank where I'd get to work with M&A or restructuring. Of course, such positions are very competitive, and I plan on applying to the entire range of finance jobs on my school's job board.
Depending on where I'm hired, during my first year of work, I plan to take the GMAT and apply to MFin schools, in order to get another chance at OCR.
Thanks in advance for your input on my resume.
I can't see your resume...
Sorry about that. Just fixed the link.
Your resume looks great academically but lacks IB relevant internships. I would go ahead and provide more results that occurred because of you (Research Intern).
Also why don't you simply apply for MFin programs right now? Why wait until you have been employed for a year??
Not a terrible start other than the fact that you are running very late in the job search game. Just curious what happened during FT recruiting in the fall? I think that you need to add some more meat to your resume, just a lot of white space. Also it just doesn't seem, through your resume, that you are interested in Finance. You have great ECs and a good GPA, any way of adding something else that shows you are interested in Finance? Sorry I cant be of more help
-delete the period after "12-18" -move the locations and dates to line up with the right margin -could use more quant lingo -try to bullshit the Toastmasters bullets a little more
main problem is not resume but lack of experience... try for a boutique or then FT recruiting next year?? I dunno I'm in the same place as you but with A LOT more internships...
good luck!
Thanks for all the good advice. I realigned the text and deleted the period as BT suggested.
I definitely lack finance experience, its true. Here's a couple ideas to squeeze a bit more finance stuff onto the page:
(1) In the Education section, adding a list of investment/finance courses I'm currently taking
(2) In the "Skills and Education" section, adding the following line:
"Books and Resources Used in Finance Self-Education: [book 1, book 2, book 3, book 4, academic finance lectures, podcast]"
What do you think? Additionally, I could put together an excel or PDF valuation project to attach to the cover letter/resume email I'll send out to firms.
