thank you very much both! I really liked the team at HL, so I was wondering if it will be a bad idea to start my career at HL? How is HL in terms of exit opportunities?

Don’t have any specific examples, so take it with a grain of salt, but when I was a prospect, I was told by multiple experienced professionals to avoid HL at all costs. Seemed to mostly be culture-related issues.

Speaking froma European perspective Rothschild would be the more prestigious institution, and exit opportunities could be UMM / MF PEs or BBs.

Houlihan is growing very rapidly to become the reference point in the mid market. I've actually been quite impressed by their deal flow (of course, Rothschild still I think is larger). Both are good options, but at least in Europe Rothschild would be better for prestige / deal size. That's not the only thing that's important though.

Exits from HL should include the long tail of LMM and MM funds who actually prefer candidates focused on those deal sizes, as well as larger banks.
