Seeking Advice on Finance Roles in NYC – Canadian looking to move to New York

Hi everyone,

I'm currently exploring finance roles in New York and would love any advice or job leads! I was initially focused on investment banking (did internship, no return offer due to hiring freeze and Canadian market has been flat) and capital markets, still preferring capital market roles though, but I'm now open to any finance-related positions or companies that could support a TN visa. My fiancé is moving to New York (on a TN, but his TN category was easier), and I want to make the move as well.

I’m open to opportunities in areas like strategic financeFP&A, or ANY other finance-related roles that you think may align with my skills/background below. Ideally, I’m targeting roles with compensation around $100K USD.

Here’s a quick overview of my background:

Education:

  • Master of Finance – Tier 1 Canadian University
  • Bachelor of Commerce in Economics and Finance – Tier 3 Canadian University (Graduated with Distinction)

Professional Experience:

I’d greatly appreciate any advice on navigating the NYC finance job market, companies hiring under TN visas, or any relevant job postings. At this point, ANY lead will be helpful. Thank you in advance!
