Sophomore Interested in S+T...Where do I look?

Okay, I'm kind of flipping out because deadlines are coming up and I have no idea where to look for places to apply. I applied to the BB banks that had sophomore programs, but I don't stand a chance due to my lack of experience and networking. So...where else does one look for more local/smaller banks and how do you apply? Should I look for other finance internships besides S+T? Thanks.

Here is my resume for reference...don't really stand a chance at bigger places: http://www.razume.com/documents/18390

Is there any reason your experience is listed oldest-to-newest? It should be in reverse chronological with newest at the top.

You don't have a terrible resume, you go to an Ivy, you have a beast GPA, membership in a fraternity (potential random alumni connection), quasi-related experience (insurance thing) already as a sophomore . . . you aren't in bad shape at all, even without networking. If the deadlines are just coming up, try reaching out to your alum base, it's never too late to get a leg up on networking.

I think the dates are a bit mixed up because he wanted his work experience to be at the top of the list...I think it's fine, I did the same thing and am getting interviews.

Honestly I dont think you're in terrible shape for soph programs given your resume/school/GPA etc. Just try reaching out now to alum although it is kind of late in the game. Definitely apply to finance internships other than S&T. I'm a junior going through the recruiting process right now, and have no finance background, and managed to get interviews at some BBs already (still waiting to hear back from 3/4s of them) so if you have something related this summer you'll definitely be fine for next year.

Yeah, I did dates like that because I didn't want my "most important" experience to be at the bottom...I hope thats okay. And thanks for the help, I'm just looking for any finance internship at this point, don't know how to work outside of alumni :/

A lot of my friends tell me that formatting is HUGE with bankers though...

How about breaking it into two categories, i.e. "Work Experience" and "Activities & Leadership", so then you could have just the internship in the former, and list the other two in date order under the latter?

Hope that helps.

Also there's tons of programs exclusively for sophomores like JP Morgan's Freshmen & Sophomore Internship, UBS Presidential Internship (rotational through all divisions) and the like. If you can't get one of those, at least try to do an externship type of thing.

I don't accept sacrifices and I don't make them. ... If ever the pleasure of one has to be bought by the pain of the other, there better be no trade at all. A trade by which one gains and the other loses is a fraud.

Yeah, those two programs are the only ones I noticed that actually accepted sophomores haha. And where would I start if I was looking for just finance jobs? S+T is looking really bleak now and I just want to apply to a lot of general finance places.

For some reason I remember there's a lot more than that... I'm pretty sure MS has something...?

Maybe try Private Wealth Management it seems like it's easier to get into (could be wrong). Quite a few people I know did that their second year summer and moved to IBD/S&T their 3rd year summer.
