What should I be studying on my own to ensure my best chance of succeeding as a freshman awaiting a MS internship?

I have a solid connection that can get me an internship at Morgan Stanley, but it won’t be until the next year or so because I am a freshman, what should I be studying on my free time to prepare for this to have my best shot at getting hired FT?

Good that you are trying to be prepped and nice contact. What division is the internship in? The knowledge you need varies from things like IB and S&T

That’s a great question I actually don’t know. For context my high school business teacher who I am good family friends with outside of school his father is an executive for Morgan Stanley and he told me that he can get me an internship there but he never specified for what division.

Ok fair enough, but try to figure it out asap so u can be better with ur studying. but i would say for basic understanding, know financial statements, basic IB technicals and basic S&T technicals. this is my two cents and take it with a grain of salt

Not to be a downer but you should not rely on this panning out at all. And if it does pan out then there is a good chance its going to be for some MO/BO role like risk & compliance which is likely not what you are aiming for.

If you want to do IB or S&T you need to just focus on getting your resume into a position where you are competitive for those kinds of roles at a reputable bank.
