Who do you guys think is a legitimate nominee that can win the 2024 election? I think the only one that makes sense is Andrew Cuomo, Governor of NY. He’s a moderate progressive. He’s likeable and competent. He’s not socialist like AOC/Bernie but shares some of their views. He’s also a friend to Wall Street and real estate so he could appeal to the centrist/moderate Republicans. I hope the dems do NOT nominate Kamala. It will be a brutal loss. One thing Dems have learned from this election is if you even appear to be aligned with socialism, you will not win.

Jokes aside. While Cuomo seems like a decent choice, I don't think that he could survive the spin machine if put into a competitive campaign. I think his coronavirus and riots performance can be painted in a really bad light if someone wants to. Not saying that it's necessarily true, but you can see how that could be spun in a really bad way.
We just elected Joe Biden. Hard to get more reasonable there.
It's going to be a Midwestern type. The Dems lost a lot of seats in Congress in 2020 because they appeared to be to closely aligned with socialism and "coastal elites." If they take a beating again in 2022, which is very likely due to the Senate map favoring Republicans, they should really nominate someone who vibes with middle America. I agree with the original post though; Kamala, if nominated, will get killed by almost any Republican.
Also, I predict the next election will have a lot of people very, very angry at the government. With a GOP senate win, nothing of importance will likely get done. Stagnation in government, especially if it causes a slow recovery, will spell doom for 2024 democrats.
If the GOP controlled Senate kills all legislation or efforts put forward by Democrats, how could that hurt dems? If anything it will energize Dems even further and show swing voters that the GOP does not care for the people.

Do you think it would be risky to have someone without political experience run for president again? I know Bill has succeeded well with business and philanthropy, but politics are a different beast. With the anti-billionaire sentiment coming from Dems plus Bloomberg's floundering, I don't see any possibility of a tech billionaire winning a primary. Also, Republicans hate the big tech industry and it seems that they're trying to turn Gates in particular into a boogeyman like they did with Soros, so I think someone like him would have an incredibly small base

I am really just throwing out some concept names. I would like to see a business person, preferably from the tech sector and one who does some good for the world. After Trump, we need a person who has some character.
I can see Mayor Pete and Klobuchar doing well in 2024. This will sound crazy, but I think Yang will have a lot more traction. I always thought he was a decade or two early with introducing UBI but I think that will be a much more popular idea after seeing what a pandemic does to the workforce.
Highly doubt Klobuchar. I LOVE Buggieg. In terms of personality and ideology, he can appeal to most of America. Only thing is that he is gay. I have no problem against gay people. I’d vote for him in a heartbeat. However, he’d certainly lose the conservative Christians and the South. Would probably do poor overall in the Sun Belt states. Yang has potential but I feel like his ideas are too smart for Southern and Mid-West white poor/working class...yeah I just said that. Look at how peole reacted when Biden said 1000x he will ONLY raise taxes on corporations and people making over $400K. They still thought Biden was raising taxes on everyone. Yang supports UBI and Human-Centered Capitalism(look it up). His ideology changes the way we look at America’s problems, which showcases his entrepreneurial mindset.

Nah. UBI is virtually the same thing as Negative Income Tax, which was introduced by Milton Friedman in the 1960s. Nixon tried to get is passed during his presidency but the Congress blocked it. I'm glad the idea made a comeback in the form of UBI though. SSN in America is deplorable right now.
People blame De Blasio for NYC's problems, but people often forget he has his hands tied behind his back for a lot.
A lot of what's been and currently going on in NYC can be more than partly blamed on Cuomo. I don't think NY state, let alone half the country, would support him if he ran in 2024.
DeBlasio is to blame lol. He always deflects blame on others. Part of the reason why people don’t like him. “It’s never his fault.” Cuomo was governor when Bloomberg was mayor and NYC flourished. Want proof? Ask yourself why notable businessmen like Steve Ross, Scott Rechler, Jon Gray, etc. are always willing to work with Cuomo and go to him for support meanwhile they shun DeBlasio.
