Beer

The more I get serious about life, the more I discover/appreciate the awsomeness of beer. I wonder how I was able to live this long without this baby.

Since I'm somewhat a rookie in this domain, I'm sticking to Stella Artois for the moment.

Anyone can recommend me some other solid labels?

Is this a fake thread? My personal favorite is Chimay Red, but for everyday drinking, I prefer Pacifico, Anchor Steam, Guinness, and PBR during summer, fall, winter, and spring, respectively.

I really got into craft beers freshmen year of college-and then moved on to wines sophmore year and then harder spirits the end of college (I drank all trhought college but began to really appreciate each as I outlined)

As for good beer brands-I'd try and support local beers. They can be awesome. If you're in Boston try any Harpoon, especially their Muchen dark, IPA and hef.

SorosNot a craft, but you can't go wrong with a yuengling (dingaling) or budweiser
hey so u like slammin a big wet dingaling down your throat, so what? i aint judgin

Bluemoon. Also if you ever get the chance, Kentucky Burbon Ale.

I have come here to chew bubblegum and kick ass... and I'm all out of bubblegum.

If you're in the NE, try brews from Southern Tier, Victory, Dogfish head and Allagash. Oskar Blues, Sierra Nevada, Stone, Hair of the Dog, Deschutes & Goose Island are a few of my favorite breweries, if you can get your hands on some of their beers, I would really recommend that you sample them.

The United States has so many excellent craft beers, for fucks sake throw out the Blue moon and Stella and drink some locally made stuff, it might take some time for you develop a taste but eventually your mind will be blown..

www.beeradvocate.com is a great site to just find brewpubs, taprooms or breweries close to where you live.

Cheers.

Agreed, life is too short to drink shitty beer. While there are those who enjoy Stella and Blue Moon (I've had my fair share), the craft brewing scene has been on a tear lately. There are so many regional brews to try that you would never need to buy a major brand, and typically the premium is less than $2-3 per sixpack. For 50 cents a beer, very low premium to try something new and awesome.

Definitely second Goose Island as a great brewery. Northwest has an amazing range of breweries, Full Sail, Deschutes are a couple good ones that come to mind. California has its fair share, 21st Amendment, Pyramid, Russian River, etc are all good. The Denver scene led by Fat Tire is great.

Also expand to European beers. I have soft spot for Belgium beers, most amazing range of flavors.

As for limit before you become alcoholic, I set mine to 5 days a week max, 2 drinks max. That's the limit. 5 days x 1 drink per day is probably a healthier limit.

At the moment, I'm more like 6 beers a day, 4-5 times a week (last 3 weeks).

I have alot of catching up to do.

Some feedback on my current beer status:

Corona light = tasted awful Corona extra = was ok

Boréale blonde = heavy beer that tasted ok

Stella Artois light = awful Stella Artois = good balance between light and Boréales' heaviness

I had my 1st hang over this morning. God, what an awful feeling.

I tried Labat 50 last night (around 8-9 bottles). I felt like I was going to vomit before going to bed.

Having tried 6-7 different beers, Stellas Artois is by far the best (for the moment).

Creme brûlée by Southern Tier is my favorite. It's dark, full bodied, but not at all hoppy. Kind of creamy flavor with a hint of creme brûlée flavor. Best to drink it very chilled in a frozen glass. It goes good with a Drew Estate Maduro or latte cigar. Also recommend Liliko'i Kepolo by Avery Brewing company. It's a slightly tart Belgian white made with passion fruit. Also not sweet and very refreshing on a summer evening. I generally prefer wheat beers and Belgian whites. Although I'm not a fan of IPAs, they are very popular here in Texas if you like hoppy beers.
