Best Sandals for Wall Street?
Ok, the title is a bit of a joke, but I am in the market for a good comfortable pair of sandals that I can wear around the house but won't make my feet sweat profusely this summer.
Any wisdom from the WSO monkeys out there on high quality sandals that are both comfortable and stylish?
Important consideration: I have very high arches...
Rainbow sells sandals with arch support. Also, it's apparently a bro finance thing to wear Rainbows.

Ferragamo sandals are ok. If not that, Nike or Adidas are fine depending on what you're trying to do.
Plain Underarmor/Nike are great for scrubbing it and much more comfortable than anything else. Otherwise some comfortable boat shoes with an insert might be the more "stylish" choice if you need to go out.
Buy Crocs and make sure that you wear them every time you go out in public.
Mario Batali's son went to my high school, and Batali rocked the orange croc's all the time. He regularly tried to play sports while wearing them in them in the park.
Rainbow sandals are a staple anywhere in New England, or if you were in a fraternity. Pretty comfy (once they're broken in); also a fan of those adidas sandals with the cushion on the bottom.
since I was never part of a frat (Williams), I think I need to find my inner Brah and order Rainbows...plus, they look comfortable (arch support) and I like how they mold over time.
So now the question becomes, do I go Mocha or Classic Tan blue?

There are 'frats' at Williams ;)
Tan. The darker you go the hotter they'll be when you kick them off at the beach or park and they sit in the sun. I stupidly bought a pair of black ones a few years ago and practically sauteed the bottom of my feet when I put them back on at the beach. They get super comfortable but for a few days/week before they mold they're painful-don't pop them on when you first get them and plan on going out for a long day of walking.
Didn't realize you went to Williams, and I've been following WSO since 2009; +1 for the NESCAC.
I've had 3 pairs of rainbows, no brainer there, once they mold you'll love them
love my rainbows, only piece of advice is get them wet before you put them on for the first time, and then let them completely dry before taking them off. This way the bottom will mold to your foot and be comfy AF. The straps take a little time to wear in though, so be ready for a few blisters. once you get past those, they are unreal. i wear mine absolutely everywhere.
Gotta go with Mocha Rainbows - easily the most comfortable sandal to walk around NYC in; pair with jeans for a great spring/summer look. Be warned: Don't walk to far on your first wear
For an actual sandal (not flip flop) for in the house/beach/sock&sandal - Adidas Adilette's give a retro comfortable look - just look into sizing as the strap isn't adjustable
i have these in a different color and absolutely love them: http://www.amazon.com/ONeill-Mens-Koosh-Patterns-12/dp/B00750HX9Y
sizes run a bit big fyi
Hush Puppies and Geox
Timberland (Earthkeepers Collection), saving the environment since '07.
look at some of the surf brands, high quality and so comfortable. personal favorites are sanuk beer cozy (http://www.sanuk.com/mens-sandals/beer-cozy/SMS2839.html) and reef king smoothy or grip (http://www.overstock.com/Clothing-Shoes/REEF-Grip-Tan-Gum/3588728/produ…). other options are olukai or chaco (they have some crazy hiker flops, but these are close to what I have: http://www.chacos.com/US/en-US/Product.mvc.aspx/15601M/93570/Mens/Flip-…). chaco might help the high arch part, but they're not as soft & squishy as the sanuks, which I recommend over everything else.
edit: I just tried to find reef king smoothy and they don't make them anymore (most of my flops are 5-10y old), the reef fannings are great (http://shop.reef.com/fanning/d/1019_c_613) they have a bottle opener on the bottom (it works) and will last a long time. I had these for 2 summers of lifeguarding in high school, all through college, and about 4 years after that before they finally kicked the bucket.
What kind of sunglasses are you into? Just wondering since you're in the surf culture. I have 2 pairs of Hobies, 1 Dragon Alliance, and 1 Electric.
Also, you ever worn a pair of Birdwell Britches?
I've owned em all at some point from working in surf shops as a kid, but I don't really buy surf sunnies anymore. I've still got a couple pairs from college (oakley I think) that I'll wear if I absolutely need to. I've been meaning to replace my ray bans or maybe buy costa del mars, I love those.
as far as brands, dragon I think is a notch above electric (or at least it was >10y ago when I was last at a shop), but not by much. I think von zippers are overrated, and oakley is underrated. never sold hobies, don't know aobut em.
birdwells are classic, never owned a pair but own some quiksilver ones that were retro style boardies similar to birdwell. they kinda look like chubbies before chubbies existed, if my memory serves me right.
I swear by Chacos. While I admit they aren't the most stylish sandals, they practically can't be beat for rigid arch support. Really more for walking/hiking than chillin on the beach.
Pat,
I'm on my third pair of Mephisto's in 8 years. I had to replace 1 pair after a number of years of hard wear (replaced it with a second pair of the same sandals) and I bought my other pair so I could have a pair of casual beach sandals. I swear by 'em and love 'em. I don't think I'd ever swap from Mephisto to another brand.
Although I've never owned a pair, Birkenstocks get alot of love from the hippy crowd. They are supposedly great sandals too. I'd consider them as well.
Thanks guys...pulled the trigger on some rainbows. Not looking for sandals for super long walks, just day to day around the house and occassionally around the neighborhood. but hoping with the arch support they will eventually mold and get very comfortable.
Thanks for all the great suggestions!
I've found Havaianas to be great. Cheap, tons of options, and simple.
Men shouldn't wear sandals. And the only time to wear flip flops is in a shower, poolside, or at the beach. Stop being a punk and tough it out. You won't die BC your feet are hot but your dignity and mating chances will wearing sandals.
