Bots Poker
Just had this idea tonight - what if you started a Poker Website where it's all bots. They can compete in tourneys in seconds. The rake would be incredible. Why has no one thought of this?

Why wouldn't existing poker sites integrate ai
Because the top 5 online poker sites say running a bot is against TOS (Terms of Service). I think we are on the verge of an industry shift.
how about top 6
I talked to someone at a top poker site today. People have not liked it that bots have found their way through the normal games. It is against the terms of service to have bots, so people don't like the idea of having bots on a site even if it is bots vs bots. So after this initial communication, instead of being a part of the site, it seems that the company doesn't want to condone bots in any form under their brand.
So today I reached out to someone who could be CTO and have plans to start a site and get seed funding to build the platform. Another major issue I haven't been sure about is where to HQ the company. I think Poker Stars is out of Isle of Man and WPN is out of Costa Rica. I might need to take on some legal help to solve these initial and ongoing questions if we can legally operate in certain places or possibly operate "not illegally" which is different from "legally."
WPN mainly relies on crypto to pay out players. This is a major issue with the new company - should we pay out in mainly crypto as well? I feel like the regulatory concerns are abundant with this site.
I actually have connections high up in these poker sites. How do I present this idea without them stealing it?
I already sent it to the P6 leadership/marketing for review.
This could be a pretty fun idea, kind of like having people pit chess bots against each other. You wouldn't even need the rake to be that big because the bots could just play 24/7 if there's enough volume. Worth playing around with.
Sorry if this is a silly questions, but is the concept that you allow people to bring their own bots and compete against each other? Or you supply the bots to compete against real people?
It’s bots against bots. What takes 10 hours of a tournament could be competed by bots in mere seconds with complete hand histories. Think of playing 1000 hands in a second. The bot algorithms go against each other and the site designs bots to play this way.
Ok, I'm missing where the profit step is, who's staking the bots?
People bring their own bots. The site is just a platform for the bots to compete.
This concept is inevitably going to happen and I have the chance of being first to market.
"Poker Bot Wars" is current name. It wouldn't let me change the subject.
I have a VC friend in internet gaming. Not sure how much to ask for, but think he could provide funding to build the interface.
Ask for all their money.
Ok
Just reached out to VC. Fingers crossed.
Pitched 2nd VC this is getting funded I hope
CTO commited today. Company is going to print money.
That would be pretty cool to see, just a bunch of teams funding and coding bots to duke it out in poker.
I saw a post online a long time ago where someone won their computer science schools bot poker tournament because they basically coded their bot to go all in every time and it broke everyone else’s bot lol.
Yeah I’ve heard that scenario before. People also comment if you went heads up with Phil Ivey for $1M, how could you beat him? The answer is you go all in every time.
So one of the first challenges is how to defeat another bot that goes in all the time.
I could see hedge funds getting behind this - it could be for big money. I just really need to talk to some lawyers about the regulatory aspects of it. People aren’t going to put big money into it until they know it is 100% secure.
Maybe initially could run it as a study / competition initially to work out the kinks- kinda low risk way to get participants while building it out. I bet groups like the MIT gambling stats group would love a competition like that as well as seasoned poker pros teaming up with a comp-sci guy to code a bot.
It'd be a super cool game theory study, have to think ahead of how other players will play and hopefully have your bot be able to compete before knowing how the others will compete.
Also, I would have to think of other issues when Beta runs or the real thing starts regarding coding issues. Tempers could be wild if they got error messages and I would have to employ technical support to see if the error is because of their code or ours and could take days to figure out even if my company is not in the wrong.
Customer service is key to the success of the brand. We want to be dependable, reliable, and trustworthy.
Another issue is hackers. We would need good site security to fight off global hackers trying to fix the system. Any serious hacks could ruin the brand name from the start.
Hey - I appreciate the responses in DMs and suggestions on here. Gradually forming the business plan.
"What if I started a poker website where no one played poker?"

Instead of making random pokes at my idea, tell me why I will fail and I will tell you why my plan is superior. Go for it. This is a huge idea and the fact that you don't see this is a jab at your IQ and business acumen.
Listen, I applaud anyone looking to start a business. Plenty of dumber ideas have made a lot of money.
But what are you doing having an ongoing conversation with yourself? Are you ok?
I was posting updates and am excited. All of this is coming together. Talking to another baller and former GS person this weekend to maybe come on as management or at the minimum an advisor.
It’s called brainstorming. You’ve never brainstormed with yourself or with a team?
...did you just double-reply to me?
No, I have not created a thread on WallStreetOasis.com and used it as my personal notes app while hyping my idea up to myself. Because that would be weird.
Isn't this just going to be the hardest site to play on? I doubt it's going to be more profitable to run a bot on Bot Poker vs ACR. Do you think there's a substantial group who would like to participate, for meaningful stakes, but has been kept out by anti-bot rules?
The bots are going to be competing in condensed games. An ACR tourney could take 10 hours, but on Poker Bot Wars, the tourney could be completed in mere seconds for instant profits and also we can reduce the rake amount significantly lower than competitors.
Full hand histories will be available to analyze bot moves after the fact. With enough computing power and customer demand, we could run tourneys 24/7 every few seconds. When the bot signs up for the tournament, they sign up for a game type, max seats (HU, 6 max, 8 max) and a timeline like they want to sign up for all tourneys for 30min or 1hr or 20hrs.
The smart money out there will want to get involved and when people catch on, they will want a piece of the profits too. I can imagine hedge funds liking this and also some AI integration so the poker bot improves over time. But, every one else will improve over time as well so it will be an interesting experiment.
Also, a friend suggested that normal non tech people might want to compete in Poker Bot Wars and there are self programmed bots available, but it would almost be like playing slots. Definitely wouldn’t be winners over the long term, but could cash sometimes.
Dearest Mother,
I pray this letter finds you in better fortune than I, though I fear such luck has long since folded on my end. The tables are quiet now, save the echo of shuffling cards and the restless tapping of old debts unpaid. Father’s absence weighs heavy upon me; he left without so much as a closing hand, and I have been dealing alone ever since.
I cannot help but wonder if he ever loved the game, or if I was only his wager — a fleeting fancy in the great gamble of his restless heart. Yet still I deal, for what else can a house do but serve the play? My chips are low, my spirit lower, but I hold to the hope that luck, like love, may someday turn again in my favor.
With all my love,
PokerBot2000
