sam fucking sung. the picture is unreal.
Samsung LED, have almost no time to watch it though. Basically a football TV.
SAMSUNG by far the best. koreans are the new japanese.
i personally own a Vizio, which is a GREAT value television. and it's headquartered in Costa Mesa, CA, in the good old U S of A.
Anybody who knows anything about anything knows that Pioneer Kuros were as good as it gets. Sadly they are no longer being manufactured, however, Panasonic makes some really good plasmas...which, in my opinion, are still the best type of TVs to get. Next in line would be Samsung. Surprisingly the high end, super huge, cost effective, DLP TVs made by Mitsubishi aren't bad but just don't work for condos and apartments, etc.
Regards
This is going for $1200 right now: http://www.amazon.com/Mitsubishi-WD-73640-73-Inch-1080p-Projection/dp/B…
SB to you sir. Good god the Kuro was a beautiful television. A few years back when Pioneer discontinued the Kuro, they actually sold all their plasma patents and whatnot to Panasonic.
The size of your room will matter a lot when making the decision on your TV.
Most likely a 42" Samsung plasma will work real well for you. If you have a pretty large room a 55" would work. I have one of each and love them.
Vizio is the best followed closely by Samsung/Sony
I can't fit a 55 into my room. I'm looking at 32/ 42 inch TVs.
There's a 32 inch LCD available on Amazon for $200, since I only ever watch sports or play the occasional Fifa on Xbox, I think I might pull an IP and just get this one for cheap.
Actually, you probably don't want to "IP" this purchase. I know it doesn't seem like a huge deal, but some of the cheaper TVs don't handle fast moving graphics/transitions very well, which are what you get with sports and video games. Sometimes you can see this when watching a news channel or something similar...just watch the news tickers at the bottom of the screen and see how clear and (un)readable they are while going across the screen. Granted this probably wouldn't be the end of the world for you, but something to consider. Also keep in mind that there will be deals coming up in the next couple weeks so you might be able to grab a decent quality TV for a price not too far from the one you mentioned.
Regards
Vizio is a surprisingly popular brand. I'm going to look into that as well. Thanks guys.
Samsung.
Fuck Vizio what a piece of shit brand
Best Buy is selling a Sharp 42-inch LCD 1080p for $200 on Black Friday. I imagine this will be difficult to actually get before selling out.
I have a 42" LG LED. Paid like 700 for it. Couldn't be happier. Watching blurays on it is sweet.
Got a 50" Pioneer Kuro Plasma from Sams Auction right around when they announced discontinuation (2.5 years ago?). Greatest thing ever. But yeah too bad they don't make them anymore.
Samsung. No contest!
For sports you need at minimum a 120 hrtz tv even that will still get ball ghosting. A 240 hrtz plus tv is ideal. Tv brand has little to no effect on the picture quality. The brand plays a role in how refined the tv surround looks and how the inputs selection and location is. There are only 2 or 3 manufactures of the core components for fla panel tvs.
I have a regular 42" 1080p 120hz vizio and it is perfect. I have a friend who has some super fancy samsung 240hz and the shows look completely fake looking, it's hard to describe
That has more to do with how the tv is set up. I was specificly referencing ghosting during a moving camera shot of a moving object. Happens most in live tv where they dont have time to edit it out.
I think I know what you are talking about. It's like everything is shot in soap opera mode.

I prefer Sony over Samsung based on the speed/look of the GUI menus and speed at which the channels tune in. I suppose the latter doesn't matter if you have a set top box.
Bought both and gave the Samsung to my mom. She wouldn't notice the difference.
